Fourth, citing sūtras for explanation: namely, citing two sūtras. 'Abiding in the three kinds of abidings, practicing the six correct practices, one is of great service to the Master's teaching': this cites the first sūtra. 'Meaning abiding' and below is the explanation. Jing said: 'Abiding in the abiding of liberation' refers to the bodhi and nirvāṇa of the three vehicles being free from bondage, called liberation; when realized by wisdom, it is called abiding in the abiding of liberation. 'Abiding in the doors of liberation' refers to the emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness doors of liberation. If explaining the three liberations according to established truth, the practices of emptiness and non-self are called the emptiness liberation; the two practices of suffering and impermanence, together with the four each of origination and path, are called wishlessness; the four practices under cessation are called signlessness. If establishing the single tathatā according to unestablished truth, it possesses three meanings: being free from person and dharmas is the door of emptiness; being free from the ten signs is signlessness; being free from conceptualizing and seeking objects is wishlessness. When realizing tathatā in a single thought-moment of realizing wisdom, it is distinct in meaning and called possessing the three liberations.
