Jing said: First, 'the recipient's relinquishing-giving': like Mahākāśyapa going sequentially on alms round to benefit the poor, this is relinquishing his own body as a field [of merit] and receiving another's food, called 'the recipient's giving'; it can also mean seeing that there is a recipient and immediately giving to them, called 'the recipient's giving'. Second, 'the donor's relinquishing-giving': this is the donor performing giving, which is understood. The fruits of giving are also two: First, 'attaining great wealth' is the fruit of the first giving: relinquishing the body as a field is called the recipient giving wealth, and thus in the present life one attains great wealth because of obtaining given items; if one says that seeing a recipient one immediately gives, then in the future one attains great wealth. Second, 'attaining the decisive resolve for this commensurate enjoyment' is the fruit of the donor's giving: through relinquishing wealth, in the future one again obtains much wealth, which is called attaining the commensurate [result]; due to this, one can later use it oneself and give to others, which is called decisive resolve for enjoyment.
