通初經中，答意，佛說過去已起之業熏種在識，生彼能熏。言有過去業，大自在是第四定大自在，自性是數論自性也。丈夫是勝論等，神我也。

In reconciling the first sūtra, the meaning of the reply is that the Buddha taught that past karma, having already arisen, perfumes seeds in consciousness, and these produce that which perfumed [them]. Thus it is said that past karma exists. Maheśvara is the Maheśvara of the fourth dhyāna. 'Prakṛti' is the prakṛti of the Sāṃkhyas. 'Puruṣa' refers to the ātman of the Vaiśeṣikas and others.
