第三明四相名義差別，生差別有其十一。最初入胎，名下劣生者，三時俱倒。中二入胎，名處中生者，於出入時不倒，獨覺入住不倒。最後入胎，名勝妙生者，三時不倒，所謂如來，此等生老死相，如緣起經廣說。

Third, clarifying the distinctions in name and meaning of the four characteristics: arising has eleven distinctions. Entering the womb at first is called 'inferior arising,' in which all three periods are confused. Entering the womb in the middle two is called 'intermediate arising,' in which one is unconfused at the time of entry and exit; pratyekabuddhas are unconfused when entering and abiding. Entering the womb at last is called 'superior arising,' in which one is unconfused in all three periods; this refers to the Tathāgata. These characteristics of birth, aging, and death are as expounded at length in the Pratītyasamutpāda-sūtra.
