Within the explanation there are five points. First, from the two characteristics of the transformation of the intentional object: regarding the statement, 'meaning the ability to cognize the vasanā of false grasping at the intrinsic nature of what is falsely discriminated,' Venerable Ji provided an extensive explanation with questions and answers on this, stating that because both the sixth and seventh consciousnesses give rise to clinging, the seeds perfumed by them can be called the vāsanā of false grasping. As for the seeds perfumed by the five consciousnesses and so forth, although they are not the vāsanā of false grasping, they are also intentional objects of the eighth [consciousness].
