The ninth major section explains space and uncalculated cessation. First, it differentiates space. The Tripiṭaka Master says: According to the Sanskrit text of the Mahāyānasūtrālaṃkāra, it is also like this. What is space? It means 'matter is absent.' One should know that it is nominally designated on the meaning of non-obstruction by matter of the space element, and hence it says 'matter is absent.' In true principle, where all conditioned dharmas are unobtainable is called space; thus the master of the Buddhabhūmiśāstra, based on coarse marks, spoke of 'matter is absent,' as detailed in that treatise.
