14.174

若聰慧者至能永斷離者，三乘聖人名聰慧者，能除貪愛名永斷離。言於煩惱分位所攝發業四身繫纏亦能永斷者，由斷貪愛，四繫永斷。所以者何，外人徵。

Regarding "if the wise... up to... can forever sever and abandon": noble beings of the three vehicles are called "the wise"; being able to eliminate craving and delight is called "forever severing and abandoning." Regarding the statement: "The entanglements of the four bodily ties that initiate karma, which are subsumed under the states of affliction, can also be forever severed": through severing craving and delight, the four ties are forever severed. "Why is this?" An outsider challenges.
