In the second sequence, of antidotes, the third is the inversion of mistaking mind for a self. Jing says: Unlike the Hīnayāna treatises that conceive of mind as permanent, here it is stated that non-Buddhists conceive of mind as a self; thus consciousness is third. Those who conceive the impermanent to be permanent generally conceive the aggregates of perception and formations to be permanent; thus perception is fourth and formations are fifth. Ji says: This is based on what is mostly conceived of as a self through conceptual discrimination, and thus mind is the inversion of a self; elsewhere, it is based on what is conceived of as a self innately at all times, and thus dharmas are the inversion of a self. Both of these are admissible.
