On the passage from "Furthermore, not all..." up to "...one should know that they cannot produce this matter": Jing says: This excludes those who are newly cultivating contemplation and making exertion to cultivate absorption, who cannot produce matter; only when one has a non-striving mind and has practiced for a long time to maturity does this matter become manifest. Tai says: What is seen is attained through the power of provisional resolution, and therefore they cannot produce matter that others can see. Ji says: If it is a bodhisattva, it is taintless; if it is the two vehicles, it is tainted. Both manifest transformations for others to enjoy and use, which is called absorption possessing majestic power. Other conceptual-imputation contemplations are not like this; therefore, they are not absorptions of majestic power and are not called real matter.
