獨立建立者：謂事極微。建立自相故者，景云：實無有一獨生極微但就覺慧假折諸色自性各別名為獨立，亦可曰於外光寶珠外明離質而生名為獨立。

Regarding 'independence-based positing: referring to substance-atoms; because their particular characteristics are posited': Jing says: In reality, there is no single atom that arises independently; it is merely that through cognitive intelligence, various forms are provisionally analyzed into their individual distinct intrinsic natures, which is termed 'independent'. It may also be said that the external light of a jewel, when its external radiance arises apart from the physical substance, is called 'independent'.
