Jing says, "Light outside the solar disc lacks the great elements capable of creating it, and lacks fragrance and so on." Master Tai gives two explanations: The first explains that there is derived form created separate from physical substance, as the light of the sun disc is created remotely from the great elements of the disc, and there are not great elements present in the same place; this text serves as proof, acting as the upholding cause among the five causes; this is spoken with reference to great elements within the physical substance. The second explains that there are also great elements creating it just like the light, and those great elements also separately create light and so forth; however, taking the fire element in the primary disc as a condition, it produces what is subtle and unapprehendable; what is stated here as 'absent' is: how could there be no heat touch in light? If heat touch is called provisional, it takes water and fire as its substance; how could heat touch arise apart from fire? Therefore, one knows that there is also luminous radiance. As for the heat touch in the sun, it is still the warmth-heat part of the fire within the sun disc, not the fire element that creates the color form of light; sound should be understood accordingly. Ji says, "This contradicts the upholding cause among the five causes, for it states that equal measures do not perish."
