Regarding the three abandonments, the Abhidharmasamuccaya states: conceptually generated defiled views and doubts, the bases of views and doubts, the concomitants arisen from views and so forth, as well as the vocal and mental karma initiated by those views and so forth, along with all aggregates, realms, and bases of bad destinies, constitute the meaning of what is abandoned through seeing. Here, bases of views and doubts refer to phenomena conjoined with and co-arising with views and doubts, as well as their seeds. Contaminated phenomena that conflict with what is abandoned through seeing after attaining the path of seeing are abandoned through cultivation; those conflicting with what is abandoned through seeing refer to the remaining contaminated phenomena aside from conceptually generated defiled views and so forth. Contaminated phenomena also subsume wholesomeness belonging to the aids to penetration accompanied by crudeness. Fascicle 3 of that treatise states that although wholesome factors belonging to the aids to penetration are accompanied by the crudeness of afflictions, they are nevertheless established as uncontaminated in nature, because all of them exist [as such]; here it states again that the phrase 'remaining contaminated phenomena' also subsumes wholesomeness of the aids to penetration. That treatise further states: all contaminated factors, excluding wholesomeness of penetration, are not to be abandoned.
