若言無者，計分位別，為唐捐者，景云：若言想等無別作用，是則想等體用俱無，計前後分位有別，豈不唐捐。
If one says they do not exist, 'positing distinct states would be in vain': Jing says: if one says that perception and so forth have no distinct functions, then perception and so forth lack both substance and function; wouldn't positing distinct sequential states be entirely in vain?
