八明界差別，意明十八界，體類不同，彼性相異，名種種界。有情是假，界體是實，假依實住，名非一界。即總前三，謂種種界，及一界名無量界下，引說誠證。

Eighth, [the text] explains the differentiation of the elements. It intends to clarify that the eighteen elements differ in their substances and categories, their natures and characteristics being distinct, which is called 'manifold elements'. Sentient beings are nominal, whereas the substances of the elements are real; nominal designations abide relying on what is real, which is called 'not a single element'. This summarizes the preceding three: namely, manifold elements, and from 'one element' to 'immeasurable elements', citing authoritative teachings below to establish proof.
