16.111

後明勝劣，即當善趣根勝，惡趣根為劣。若善趣死，生惡趣，捨勝得劣等。又解：前約異熟根，後約長養根。

The latter clarifies the superior and the inferior: that is, faculties in good destinies are superior, and faculties in bad destinies are inferior. If one dies in a good destiny and is born in a bad destiny, one loses the superior and acquires the inferior, and so forth. Another explanation says: The former refers to vipāka faculties, and the latter refers to sustained faculties.
