問：根障無知，為有九品為當無耶？若有九品者，性障六品根障六品無間斷其義可爾，根障後三品以何無間斷耶？若無九品者，無有有漏法唯是一品，三界九地有差別故，如何根障無九品耶？

Question: Does the ignorance that is an obstacle to the faculties have nine grades, or does it not? If it has nine grades, the six grades of obstacles of nature and the six grades of obstacles to faculties being severed by the non-interrupted [path]—that meaning would indeed be correct; but by what non-interrupted [path] are the remaining three grades of obstacles to faculties severed? If it does not have nine grades, since there are no conditioned dharmas that consist of merely a single grade because there are distinctions among the nine grounds of the three realms, how could the obstacles to faculties lack nine grades?
