今此論文，舉前方便，故依地前立於初根，初地出觀已後屬第二根故，於淨增上意樂地等立第二根。今尋唯識論道理，初見道時亦屬初根，但以時促故略不說。

Now this treatise text adduces the previous expedients, and thus establishes the initial faculty based on [the stage] before the stages; because the post-contemplation period upon emerging from the first stage belongs to the second faculty, the second faculty is established from the stage of pure and superior intention onward. Now, examining the principles of the *Vijñaptimātratāsiddhi*, the initial path of seeing also belongs to the initial faculty, but because the duration is short, it is omitted and not mentioned.
