As for 'the ten powers are the faculty of discernment and the faculty of the one who has fully known': in principle, the ten powers are not merely discernment, but also take the simultaneous five faculties of faith and the rest; because discernment functions to illuminate the object, it is singularly referred to as discernment. Since the ten powers abide in the stage of the non-learner, they subsume the faculty of the one who has fully known. The four fearlessnesses are subsumed by the five faculties and this same single faculty of the one who has fully known. As with the fearlessnesses, the non-protections are also like this: they all take faith and the rest and the faculty of the one who has fully known as their essential nature. And in identifying the essential nature of the non-protections and fearlessnesses universally in terms of the five faculties: because there is no relative strength or weakness, all are taken as their essential nature; or this is an abridged, partial presentation.
