16.34

第七、二品中，依八施設句而建立也，依如是名為第一，謂中有體，種姓為第二，謂父母種姓即迦葉等種剎利等姓也。如是食苦樂為第三，謂依好飲食則受喜樂，依惡飲食則受憂苦等，如是壽為四。如是住為五。如是壽量為第六。以上依在家品施設，如是信乃至慧立信等五為第七。如是向果立後三無漏為第八施設，此依出家品。

Seventh, in the two categories, they are established according to eight designative phrases. Depending on such a name is the first, referring to the intermediate existence. Gotra is the second, referring to the gotra of the parents, namely gotras such as Kāśyapa and castes such as Kṣatriya. Such food, suffering, and pleasure is the third, meaning that depending on good food and drink one experiences joy and pleasure, while depending on bad food and drink one experiences grief and suffering, and so forth. Such a lifespan is the fourth. Such a dwelling is the fifth. Such a lifespan measure is the sixth. The above are designations according to the lay category. Such faith up to wisdom establishes the five of faith and so forth as the seventh. Approaching such a fruition establishes the latter three taintless ones as the eighth designation; this is based on the monastic category.
