16.442

基云：前五十五云：誑諂是癡等流者，次邪見者癡增上故。此約別行彼約通論，故是癡分。又彼約體說故癡分，此約行相起時增故言邪見等流，此審勘諸論。

Ji says: 'Earlier, in fascicle fifty-five, it says that deceit and flattery are outflows of delusion because next to wrong view, delusion is predominant. That is said from the perspective of specific functioning, whereas this is said from the perspective of general discussion; therefore they are portions of delusion. Furthermore, that is spoken from the perspective of their essential nature, hence they are portions of delusion; this is spoken from the perspective of their modes of activity being intensified upon arising, hence it says they are outflows of wrong view. One should carefully examine the various treatises on this.'
