16.504

又彼乃至難可解脫者，景云：修斷四惑通有分別及以俱生。今說俱生任運而起，堅固難脫。分別起者，則易覺知故。離欲者，但伏分別。任運起者，難遮防故。

As for 'Furthermore, they down to are difficult to be freed from': Jing says: The four afflictions abandoned by cultivation include both discriminative and innate ones. Here it speaks of the innate ones arising spontaneously, being firm and difficult to be freed from. Those arising through discrimination are easily recognized. Those free from desire merely suppress discrimination. Those arising spontaneously are difficult to obstruct and guard against.
