16.54

備、景師云：以一切種子同阿賴耶名為異熟故，從異熟種生二十二根，皆名異熟生。此文則說無漏種子同所依識名為異熟，以無別體，故三無漏根名異熟生。今準唯識云：無漏種子功能轉增，假名異熟。

Masters Bei and Jing say: because all seeds are termed maturation along with the ālayavijñāna, the twenty-two faculties arisen from maturation seeds are all called arisen from maturation. This text says that taintless seeds are termed maturation along with the consciousness on which they rely; having no separate substance, the three taintless faculties are called arisen from maturation. Now, according to the Vijñaptimātratāsiddhi, it says: when the function of taintless seeds increases progressively, it is metaphorically designated as maturation.
