初明究竟。瞋恚業道瞋為究竟，及貪業貪為究竟者，若薩婆多一剎那貪有二種。一、根；二、業。根能生業故，由貪根貪業究竟。若成實思前貪非業，思後貪通根業故，由思前貪思後貪令究。

First, the culmination is explained. Regarding "malice is the culmination of the path of malicious action, and greed is the culmination of greedy action": according to the Sarvāstivāda, in a single moment of greed there are two aspects: first, the root; second, the action. Because the root is capable of producing the action, through the root of greed the action of greed reaches culmination. According to the *Tattvasiddhi*, greed prior to volition is not an action, while greed subsequent to volition encompasses both root and action; therefore, by means of greed prior to volition and greed subsequent to volition, it is brought to culmination.
