17.181

法中，意謂如遣一使外國人殺殺究竟時，彼此雖不相知，然由彼處受苦究竟命終威力，令此能遣思成極重增上業道，更不增別法體，此義大好，大却妨難。舊來漢僧斟酌，有云：要得報知方熏成種名為得罪等，皆不稱理。

In the doctrine, the meaning is that if one dispatches a messenger to kill a person of a foreign country, when the killing culminates, although neither knows [at that instant] of the other, nevertheless, by the power of the suffering culminating in the loss of life at that place, the volition of this dispatcher becomes an exceedingly grave, sovereign path of action without adding any distinct real entity. This meaning is excellent and greatly resolves difficulties. The considerations previously made by Chinese monks, some of whom said that one must receive notification before seeds are perfumed and one is said to incur guilt, and so forth, are all not in accord with reason.
