第五明三種斷法。以大乘宗中無有諸共事，是初斷滅者，色等事法但斷緣縛，名為斷滅也。若生上地棄下地諸行，入無餘涅槃捨一切行，棄捨斷滅。

Fifth, explaining the three kinds of severing phenomena. Because in the Mahāyāna tenet there are no shared entities, this first is severing by cessation: phenomenal entities like form are merely severed of their relational binding, which is termed severing by cessation. If, upon being born in a higher stage, one abandons the conditioned formations of the lower stage, or upon entering nirvāṇa without remainder, one relinquishes all conditioned formations, this is severing by abandonment.
