17.308

基云：言若生下地於上起愛，未得離欲不定心者，當言此愛是欲界繫者，謂前三相愛味中第一未得定愛味即欲界貪，緣上界生貪為他界緣，或不同小乘緣求上定，皆名善法欲，以彼心中染不染故。如文相狀，即同前五十九，上地下緣下等，互得相緣，此亦云我當得時如是愛味即是緣上，名自心之相分。

Ji says: Regarding 'if born in a lower stage one generates attachment toward the higher, with a mind not yet free from desire and not in absorption, it should be said that this attachment is bound to the desire realm': this means that within the aforementioned three characteristics of tasting attachment, the first—attachment without having yet attained absorption—is greed of the desire realm; producing greed with a higher realm as object is taking another realm as object. Alternatively, unlike the Small Vehicle where seeking higher absorption is entirely called desire for wholesome phenomena, this is due to defilement or undefilement within that mind. As the textual characteristics indicate, it is identical to the earlier fifty-ninth fascicle, where higher and lower take each other as objects; here it also says 'when I attain it, I will taste it like this,' which is taking the higher as object, termed the objective aspect of one's own mind.
