Third and fourth, the causes and conditions for entering and emerging: some enter the cessation absorption out of fear of life-threatening danger, because by the power of that absorption no harm can be done; or they emerge from absorption for the sake of food, drink, defecation, urination, the four great elements being afflicted by illness, and other such matters. Fifth, 'Because of the virtues of emerging from absorption', which refers to the virtues that arise upon emerging from absorption, namely the comfort of body and mind and freedom from all heavy coarseness; if one makes an offering to such a person, one immediately obtains the karmic reward.
