17.415

解身見中，有六復次。一、由身為欣戚塗染，設欲棄捨欣戚塗染，便為身見相違而住，如廣論說：諸異生類世八法中，遇得等四便為高欣，遇失等四便為下戚，如其次第生愛生恚。

In explaining personality view, there are six alternatives. First, because the body is smeared and tainted with joy and sorrow, even if one wishes to discard this smear and taint of joy and sorrow, one remains in contradiction due to personality view. As the Detailed Śāstra says: When ordinary beings encounter the four [favorable conditions] such as gain among the eight worldly phenomena, they feel elevated joy; when they encounter the four [unfavorable conditions] such as loss, they feel depressed sorrow; in corresponding order, attachment and anger arise.
