17.418

言八種者，泰師判，一、於弟子有增惡心；二、唯自身受恭敬利養；三、以自身不如法故，便令弟子破戒行惡；四、於眾弟子有受增上戒，教弟子時諸不堪忍勤苦；五、於增上戒教授折伏不堪；六、於定；七、於慧；八、於營眾務所有擾惱不能堪忍。

As for the eight kinds, Master Tai determines them as: 1. having an increasing malice toward disciples; 2. merely receiving respect and material gains for oneself; 3. because oneself is not in accord with the Dharma, thereby causing disciples to break precepts and practice evil; 4. when disciples receive the higher precepts, the inability to endure all the toil and hardship when instructing the disciples; 5. inability to subdue and instruct with respect to the higher precepts; 6. with respect to concentration; 7. with respect to wisdom; 8. inability to endure all the disturbances of managing monastic affairs.
