初列名中，禪支多小，說處不同。若廣論餘師云：四禪四空，根本近分各別立支，總有六十八，謂根本靜慮有十八支，初二等五，後二齊四故，四近分定亦有十八，數同根本，但近分定彼約捨受建立支分，四無色定根本近分各有四支，名同第四定，故總積數有六十八。

In the first, listing names, the number of dhyāna factors is stated differently in various places. According to other masters in the Detailed Śāstra: For the four dhyānas and the four formless [attainments], factors are established separately for the fundamental and the preparatory access, totaling sixty-eight. That is, the fundamental dhyānas have eighteen factors: the first two each have five, and the latter two each have four. The four preparatory access concentrations also have eighteen, the number being the same as the fundamental, except that in the preparatory access concentrations, the factors are established in terms of neutral feeling. The four formless concentrations, fundamental and preparatory access, each have four factors, their names being the same as the fourth dhyāna; therefore, the accumulated total is sixty-eight.
