初言：此中諸識，皆名心意識者，此就通門，八識皆有集起之義故得名心，思量名意了別名識，不解別名心意識。

First, regarding "herein, all consciousnesses are called citta, manas, and vijñāna": this is in terms of the general gate; because all eight consciousnesses have the meaning of accumulation and arising, they can be called citta; calculating is called manas; discerning is called vijñāna. It does not explain their distinct designations as citta, manas, and vijñāna.
