Regarding "manas is named 'mind', grasping at self and what belongs to self, and so forth": Jing says: 'Manas only conceptualizes a self, having no separate mode of apprehension conceptualizing what belongs to self; it is simply that when conceptualizing a self, it considers this self to have the meaning of "my family's self," which is termed "self and what belongs to self." Or, it can be that manas comprehensively conceptualizes the ālaya's primary mind and mental factors, taking them as a self; in terms of conceptualizing the primary mind, it is explained as conceptualizing a self, and in terms of conceptualizing the mental factors, it is explained as conceptualizing what belongs to self. The Vijñaptimātratāsiddhi says, explaining the correct doctrine of the fourth [master], Dharmapāla, that self and what belongs to self have no separate grasped object.'
