Seventeenth, in explaining phenomena that are appropriated and non-appropriated, appropriated is briefly established by five characteristics; the first three can be readily understood. From "being altered through four causes and conditions" up to "objects cognized by wrong or right deliberation" constitutes the fourth. Furthermore, "being altered for the sake of harm or for the sake of benefit" is the fifth characteristic. Because they can be harmed or benefited, they are called "altered"; hence they are called "appropriated." The subsequent lines conclude the five characteristics: "if form" concludes the first; "if internal" the second; "if mind, mental factors, and so forth" is the third. From "if thus" below, it concludes the fourth and fifth.
