18.381

此果轉依，名持對治者，此有兩解。一云，此無礙道果是解脫道，是解脫道是能證得轉依，故名此果轉依名持對治；二云：即取無為轉依能持或不起，名持對治。此中四修為前卷四修，或同或別應勘知也。

Where it says, 'the basis-transformation of this fruit is termed the counteraction of maintenance': there are two explanations of this. One says: the fruit of this unhindered path is the path of liberation, and this path of liberation is able to realize basis-transformation, hence 'the basis-transformation of this fruit is termed the counteraction of maintenance'. The second says: taking unconditioned basis-transformation as being able to maintain [qualities] or keep [afflictions] from arising, it is termed the counteraction of maintenance. Whether the four cultivations here are the same as or different from the four cultivations in the preceding fascicle should be examined and known.
