Below, it further clarifies the previous meaning, stating that there are briefly two kinds. First, regarding "the view like an illness and so forth, views whose basis is impure, and so forth": this means that prior to this path of seeing, during the stage of an ordinary being, practicing these aspects of impermanence and so forth can induce the path; this is called the impure view which serves as the basis. Second, regarding "the view like an illness and so forth, views which are supported and pure, and so forth": having already emerged from the path of seeing, during the stage of cultivation one again gives rise to the view like an illness and so forth; because it arises in the body of an ārya, it is pure. Such a view arises by the causal power of that view like an illness and so forth prior to the path of seeing, and thus it is that which is supported; hence it is called "pure in that it is supported." Alternatively, one may also say that during the stage of cultivation, the aspects of impermanence and so forth are that which is supported, while the aspects like an illness and so forth are the basis.
