18.488

初明遍智永斷諦名廢立。苦諦偏得遍知名者，以二種相應遍知故，苦行智苦是自相遍知，以無常行觀苦，是三諦共相遍知，以空無我行知苦，即以一切法行遍知於苦，故名共相。餘諦但有自相行知無共相行，是故不得遍知名也。

First is explaining the establishment and omission of the names of the truths regarding thorough knowledge and perpetual abandonment. The truth of suffering alone obtains the name of thorough knowledge because it has two kinds of associated thorough knowledge: knowledge of suffering through the aspect of suffering is the thorough knowledge of its own-character; contemplating suffering through the aspect of impermanence is the thorough knowledge of the common character of the three truths; knowing suffering through the aspects of emptiness and non-self is thoroughly knowing suffering through the aspects of all phenomena, hence it is called the common character. The other truths only have knowledge through the aspects of their own-characters and lack aspects of the common character; therefore, they do not obtain the name of thorough knowledge.
