18.506

由他故者，謂見諦者，有所違犯不染污罪者，如善心拔佛前草，須對一人懺，此中泰云：以無染心故不須自責。玄云：聖人多慚愧故，對他懺愧。

"Due to another" means that when one who has seen the truths commits an undefiled offense, such as pulling up grass before the Buddha with a wholesome mind, one must confess before one person. Here Tai says: Because it is without a defiled mind, there is no need for self-reproach. Xuan says: Because āryas possess much shame and conscience, they confess before another.
