玄云：八忍有求故名為在毘鉢舍那品，八智息求故名為在奢摩他品，此八忍八智所攝諸智，以法類二品所攝言。

Xuan says: The eight patiences have seeking, hence they are said to belong to the category of vipaśyanā; the eight knowledges have stilled seeking, hence they are said to belong to the category of śamatha. These various knowledges subsumed under the eight patiences and eight knowledges are stated as subsumed under the two categories of Dharma and inductive.
