Question: When a practitioner enters contemplation to contemplate a heap of bones, and the heap of bones is subsequently eliminated, is it because the concentrated mind clings to there being actual bones that they must be eliminated, or does one not cling to them as actual and yet they must be eliminated? If one clings to them as actual, the concentrated mind then has clinging to phenomena; having clinging to phenomena, there is then ignorance; having ignorance, it should not be called concentration. If one does not cling to them as actual, the contemplated heap of bones is of the paratantra nature. Now, eliminating the heap of bones would mean eliminating the paratantra. Why do you say again that it does not eliminate the paratantra?
