The eighth sūtra says: 'Evenly contemplating those very [aggregates] as all empty.' This is based on the lack of self-nature of production, up to speaking such words. Previously, the emptiness of the parikalpita nature was clarified, spoken of as being like space; space has no substance, which is an analogy for the emptiness of the parikalpita nature. Now saying 'contemplating those very [aggregates] as all empty' clarifies that paratantra phenomena are empty of spontaneous production and lack ultimate reality; this is not the same as the previous explanation of the parikalpita as empty and having a lack of self-nature of characteristics. Therefore it is said to be 'far removed from the lack of self-nature of characteristics.' Nor is it necessary to differentiate it by opposing it to the previous one to call it 'far removed.' Understanding with wisdom that the sūtra says 'evenly contemplating those very [aggregates] as all empty' clarifies that the paratantra is empty of spontaneous production and lacks ultimate reality and is therefore spoken of as empty; because it does not differentiate the lack of self-nature of characteristics, it is said to be 'far removed from the lack of self-nature of characteristics.'
