The twelfth sūtra, regarding dispelling all notions, is also spoken based on tathatā and therefore not spoken based on the three non-natures. Examining the references to non-nature throughout this treatise, they are based solely on the arbitrarily conceptualized nature, and not based on the two natures of paratantra and pariniṣpanna. Hence the Vimalakīrtinirdeśa says: 'One merely removes the illness, but does not remove phenomena.' 'Phenomena' are the two truths, ultimate and conventional, of paratantra and pariniṣpanna; 'illness' refers to the phenomena arbitrarily grasped through parikalpita. Therefore, the intention of that sūtra is identical to this treatise. When a person performs the contemplation of tathatā in this way, there is nothing that cannot be known; hence the treatise above says: Although the devas attained the knowledge of others' minds and searched for the meditative absorption entered by that monk, they were ultimately unable to know it. Therefore a verse says: 'Homage to the supreme person! Homage to the foremost among persons! Now I do not know on what basis you cultivate dhyāna.'
