Thirty-fourth, explaining the four kinds of dharmas able to hinder severing. The passage: 'One should know that regarding evildoers, the wisdom-eye is said to be blind': because one lacks the wisdom-eye regarding those who do evil, it is called 'blind'. 'Regarding makers of merit, it is said to have defilement': if, lacking the wisdom-eye, one makes merit without departing from signs, it is called 'having defilement'. 'Regarding non-Buddhists, it is said to have a cataract': because they lack the true wisdom-eye, it is called 'having a cataract'.
