Regarding establishing cause-conditions based on the ground of support of the seed condition, the Vijñaptimātratā has two explanations: One says that the six grounds of support—the third, perfumed impressions; the fourth, moistening; the eleventh, conformity; the twelfth, differentiation; the thirteenth, concurrence; and the fifteenth, non-obstruction—all cause-condition seeds within these six are called the ground of support of the seed condition, upon which cause-conditions are established. Apart from the third and fourth, active manifestations in the other four grounds of support are mostly subject to interruption and thus not mentioned, or else because they can achieve the fruit they are also called seeds. As for the grounds of support of immediate cessation and sensory objects, it should be known that they generally reveal the grounds of the two conditions; not only the fifth, immediate cessation, but within the sixth, the ground of support of the object condition, the intermediate two conditions are also implied; apart from these, all remaining grounds are sovereign conditions. The second says that seeds pertain exclusively to the fourth, the ground of support of moistening seeds, upon which cause-conditions are established; because they directly produce fruits and are prominent, they are singled out, while others such as names are remote and concealed, and thus omitted. Immediate cessation is solely the fifth, and sensory objects are solely the sixth; as with names, although these two exist in other explicit grounds of support, they are concealed and not mentioned. Since this has already revealed the first three conditions, the remaining twelve grounds are all subsumed under the sovereign condition, not merely sovereign.'
