此七徵中，三藏云：徵小乘諸部異計，不可定判是其部義。景師云：初一、通徵四薩婆多計：次二、徵定外宗未必有計；第四徵業異薩婆多計；第五、徵轉變薩婆多計，第六徵、相異薩婆多計，第七徵、待異薩婆多計。

Regarding these seven interrogations, the Tripiṭaka Master said: They interrogate the divergent doctrines of the various Hīnayāna schools, and cannot be definitively determined as the doctrines of any single school. Master Jing said: The first one generally interrogates the doctrines of the four Sarvāstivāda masters; the next two interrogate doctrines that the other school does not necessarily hold; the fourth interrogates the doctrine of the Sarvāstivādin [holding] difference of function (kāritra); the fifth interrogates the doctrine of the Sarvāstivādin [holding] transformation (pariṇāma); the sixth interrogates the doctrine of the Sarvāstivādin [holding] difference of characteristics (lakṣaṇa); the seventh interrogates the doctrine of the Sarvāstivādin [holding] difference of relative condition (apekṣā).
