The sixty-two views are explained in this fascicle and later in fascicles fifty-eight and eighty-seven, Xianyang fascicles nine and ten, the Abhidharmasamuccaya fascicle one, the Vijñaptimātratāsiddhi fascicle six, and so on. The accounts in the Brahmajālasūtra, the Sūtra on the Sixty-Two Views, and the Śāriputrābhidharma represent the tenets of the Saṃmatīya school; the 'Chapter on the Brahma Net' in the Dīrgha Āgama represents the tenets of the Mahāsāṃghika school; the Mahāvibhāṣā fascicles 199 and 200 represent the tenets of the Sarvāstivāda school, which are not the tenets followed here. In the Pañcaviṃśatisāhasrikā Prajñāpāramitā Sūtra, chapter fifteen, and the Mahāprajñāpāramitopadeśa, the views of self and extreme views are taken as fundamental: for each of the five aggregates there are four views of what belongs to a self across the three times, each forming twenty views, which together with the roots make up the sixty-two views, etc. These are explained differently according to the capacities of beings and are not what is clarified here; fearing verbosity, they are not elaborated.
