Regarding the explanation in the twelve truths of suffering and origin, cessation and the path, category by category: this is because the fruit and cause of the defiled and undefiled are distinct; the fruit of that thorough knowledge is the predominant condition of the desire realm. As for cessation truth and path truth manifested by that thorough knowledge, Master Jing explains: Because one is revulsed by suffering and origin, one seeks cessation and the path; thus suffering and origin serve as the predominant condition (adhipati-pratyaya) for cessation and the path, which is the causal reliance (apekṣā-hetu) among the ten causes. Alternatively, cessation and the path are superior to suffering and origin, and are hence called predominant. The fruit of knowledge is the truth of cessation; thorough knowledge is the truth of the path. Because the knowledge that comprehends objects everywhere serves as the clarifying cause, the realization of the truth of cessation is manifested—that is, non-conceptual knowledge. Cognizing the all-pervading principle, it abandons afflictions and attains cessation; hence it is called 'the fruit of that thorough knowledge.' This is stated in terms of the actual reality. If stated in terms of phenomenal characteristics, it is because of thorough knowledge, the knowledge of suffering, that afflictions are abandoned and cessation is attained, which is called the fruit of thorough knowledge; hence it is said, 'the fruit of that thorough knowledge.'
