"Furthermore, through seven approaches, all afflictions can be obstacles to seeing and cultivation, and so forth": the first six are obstacles to the path of seeing, and the latter one is the karmic obstacle to the path of cultivation. Fascicle fifty-nine states: The view of identity, extreme views, and wrong views are called wrong understanding, because they delude the four truths; ignorance is called lack of understanding; doubt is both understanding and lack of understanding. The two kinds of clinging, as well as greed, malice, and pride that are abandoned by seeing, are all wrong understandings and deluded graspings.
