2.90

生中，初門以誰為先者，問因也。誰為建立誰和合者，問緣也。何法生者，問果也。已下諸問，例同此也。為自種子為先者，為言熏習，以為因緣。

Regarding 'arising': in the first approach, asking 'what takes precedence?' asks about the cause. Asking 'what is the establishing factor, and what is the concurrence?' asks about the conditions. Asking 'what phenomenon arises?' asks about the fruit. The subsequent questions follow this same model. 'Taking its own seed as prior' refers to verbal perfume serving as the cause-condition.
