初辨止觀依住門。問：以何為依，住何等住，而修止觀。下答以教為依，不捨大菩提願為住。

First is the gate distinguishing the basis and dwelling of calm abiding and special insight. Question: Relying on what as a basis, and dwelling in what kind of dwelling, does one cultivate calm abiding and special insight?
