第四止觀方便門，初問答辨求止方便，緣聞思心相續見分，爾時非止是隨順止相應作意。

The fourth is the gate of the preliminary practices of calm abiding and special insight. First, the question and answer distinguishes the preliminary practice for seeking calm abiding: taking the seeing-aspect of the continuum of the mind of hearing and reflection as the cognitive object, at which time it is not yet calm abiding, but mental application conforming to calm abiding.
